A Data Media Safe is critical to maintaining protection of your CD's, DVD's, precious photographs and Tape Backups from a fire. Sometimes called a Media Safe or a Data Safe, these safes should be locked in your IT Server room. The biggest mistake you can make is to store data and media in a "fire safe". Fireproof Safes are rated to maintain less than 350 degrees to protect PAPER, not data or media. Computer Media is so easily damaged, manufacturers recommend computer media not be exposed to temperatures over 125°F or humidity over 85%.
