SecuRam Safe Logic Basic – How to Change Your Combo

Posted by Dominic Schwebs on

Hi, Dye the Safe Guy here, Dye Hawley, manager of Safe & Vault Store, to talk to you today about the Securam Safe Logic Basic Digital Lock. The Securam Safe Logic Basic has 2 users, a master and a user. So you can actually program 2 individuals to use this lock instead of 1. The Securam Safe Logic Basic has a number of nice features. It has a 6 digit combination. It has 2 users and a manager and a user code. It also features a lockout penalty if you put the wrong combination in 4 times. So if a bad guy burglar is trying to break into your safe, after the 4th time, the lock automatically locks it out for at least 5 minutes.

Another nice feature about digital locks that a lot of people don’t realize is on a U.L. lock, there is a battery compartment right on the back on the outside so when the battery goes down, the lock will beep at you 8 times. Plus, if you leave town for an extended period of time and the battery runs dead and you’re not there, the Securam Safe Logic has a built in non-volatile memory chip behind the safe door inside the lock body. That non-volatile chip will store your personal private combination for upwards of 3 years without any power whatsoever. So when you come back, you just put a new battery in it and you’re up and running again.

The factory combination on the Securam locks is 1-2-3-4-5-6. And the door will open. Now in order to program this lock, there is a very simple procedure and I’m going to show you how to do it right now.

  • Always program your lock with a new combination with the door open and the bolts in the simulated closed position.
  • To put the lock in programming mode, press the zero 6 times (0-0-0-0-0-0). So, 1-2-3-4-5-6. It beeps twice telling you, you’re doing fine. If it beeps three times, then start over.
  • Now we put the old combination in first one time. (1-2-3-4-5-6) Two beeps that means you’re okay.
  • Now for this purpose, we are going to use 6-5-4-3-2-1 as my personal combination. So we have to put that in twice. (6-5-4-3-2-1) Two beeps. Now (6-5-4-3-2-1) So now we have the 2 beeps.
  • Now the next step is to test the new combination. So we’re going to test it 3 times. New combination is (6-5-4-3-2-1), let’s give it a try. (6-5-4-3-2-1) And the safe opens so that means we’ve done the programming successfully.
  • But let’s try it two more times. So now we simulate the safe being closed once again. And we put in (6-5-4-3-2-1). The safe opens.
  • Final test, we close the bolts one more time. Here we go, the last time. (6-5-4-3-2-1) And it opens, so now we know we can close the door and have 99.9% assurance that our new combination is going to work properly.
  • So I’ve locked the safe up now, here is the big test. The new combination (6-5-4-3-2-1). There we go, it worked. Very simple.

So we’ve learned today that the Securam Secure Logic Basic has several great features. It is a U.L. Type 1 certified lock. It has 2 users instead of 1. It has a non-volatile memory chip to preserve your combination incase the battery goes dead. It has 8 beeps when the battery is getting low to let you know to change the battery. And finally, it has a 4 attempt lockout that will lock you out for 5 minutes if a bad guy is trying to defeat your lock.
