About Jay Hunt

Jay Hunt is the driving force behind Safe and Vault Store, carrying forward a family legacy in the safe and lock industry that stretches back to the early 1900s. The Hunt family was among the first safe manufacturers and resellers in the Pacific Northwest, and Jay grew up immersed in the trade. For years he ran Allied Fire and Security and Allied Safe and Lock in Spokane, Washington, continuing that family tradition before selling the commercial security business in 2018 to focus entirely on safes.

The 2007 founding of SafeandVaultStore.com

In 2007, Jay recognized that online shopping was about to reshape how people buy major purchases like safes. With a dedicated team, he launched SafeandVaultStore.com as an e-commerce platform offering a wide range of safes and security products, with a focus on user-friendliness and a seamless customer experience. The 2018 strategic pivot

By 2018, the alarm systems industry, including electronic security, was being transformed by tech giants like Amazon, Apple, Google, and Comcast. Jay made the hard decision to sell the electronic security division and focus entirely on the safe e-commerce business he had started in 2007. The decision proved especially well-timed when the pandemic arrived in 2020. The new Spokane Valley showroom opened that March, and the business thrived as people became increasingly focused on protecting what mattered most.
