The Winchester Big Daddy is Winchester's widebody long-gun safe on the 2026 platform, built to hold up to 46 long guns with a 90-minute fire rating at 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit and a reinforced 11-gauge steel body and door. The 11-gauge body is thicker than the 12-gauge steel used across Winchester's Ranger series, and paired with the 90-minute fire envelope (versus the Ranger's 60-minute rating), it moves the Big Daddy up a step in construction and fire performance for buyers who want more protection than the standard Ranger sizes provide. Winchester offers the Big Daddy in a matte Slate finish or a matte Black finish, both with chrome hardware and the Winchester wordmark on the door.
New for 2026: Retractable Utility Shelf. The Big Daddy now includes Winchester's all-new retractable Utility Shelf, rated to 75 pounds and designed to slide out from inside the safe with a pull-up handle and quick-release levers, giving you a convenient workspace for staging gear, laying out documents, or organizing accessories without unloading the safe. The shelf retracts fully when not in use, preserving vertical storage capacity for your long guns. Combined with Winchester's GunStiXX vertical storage system, the Big Daddy delivers a working interior that adapts to what you're actually doing with the safe day-to-day.
Fire protection is critical for guns (pistols and rifles), plus valuables and important paperwork. The Big Daddy has a proven 90-minute fire rating tested at outside temperatures up to 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 50% longer than the 60-minute Ranger rating and buys the time first-response fire services need to reach and control a residential or commercial fire before the interior exceeds paper-damage temperatures. When exposed to heat, the Palusol heat-expanding door seal expands to over six times its size, creating a barrier against heat and smoke. The fire protection uses a UL-rated fireboard in the ceiling, walls, and door. External solid strap hinges provide full fire protection, unlike internal hinges, which require holes and create weak points in the fireboard. The composite steel door includes an added layer of UL-rated fireboard behind the door organizer.
The burglar protection carries a UL-listed RSC burglar rating. The reinforced 11-gauge steel body is formed with robotic continuous welds. A drill-resistant, heat-treated steel hard plate and titanium disk protect the lock, and an auxiliary re-locker keeps the active boltwork locked when the safe is under attack.
The exterior features a durable powder-coated finish in your choice of Slate or Black, with a 5-spoke chrome vault handle. Inside, a Power Docking System provides two 110V outlets and two USB ports for a light kit, dehumidifier rod, or other accessories.
