Sturdy Safe

Sturdy Safe Gun Safes

Sturdy Safe has been building serious gun safes in Fresno, California, since 1982, and over the past 4 decades, the approach hasn't changed. This family-owned company builds every safe to order using 4-gauge American steel in the body and 3/8" steel in the door, materials that put most of the safe industry to shame. While the big-box brands compete on price points, interior finishes, and marketing language, Sturdy focuses on the only thing that actually matters when a burglar hits your home: whether the safe holds. Sturdy's customers tend to be buyers who have done their research, understand steel gauges, and want to invest in something that outlasts them.

At Safe and Vault Store, we carry nine Sturdy Safe models ranging from the compact Model 2419 at 60" x 24" x 19" all the way up to the commanding Model 6028-6 at 72" x 60" x 28", giving you a genuine choice in size whether you're protecting a focused handgun collection or an extensive long gun arsenal. Every model is built to order, ships with pre-drilled bolt-down holes for anchoring, and can be customized with optional ceramic wool fire insulation, a material that outperforms the standard drywall fireboard used by most competitors because it doesn't absorb moisture, crack, or crumble with age. Lock options include a Sargent & Greenleaf mechanical dial (the preferred choice for reliability without batteries) or an electronic lock upgrade for keypad access.

If you have questions about which Sturdy Safe model is right for your space and collection, call us at 800-207-2259, Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM PST. Our team will walk you through the options and help you configure the right safe for your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are Sturdy Safes fireproof?
A: Sturdy offers optional fire protection using ceramic wool insulation, which handles higher temperatures than standard drywall fireboard and won't absorb moisture, crack, or break down over time.

Q: What's the lead time for a Sturdy Safe?
A: Since every safe is built to order, lead times are typically around two weeks, though this can vary depending on the model and any upgrades selected.

Q: Do Sturdy Safes come with a mechanical or electronic lock?
A: Sturdy defaults to a Sargent & Greenleaf mechanical dial lock for maximum long-term reliability, no batteries, no wiring, no failure modes. An electronic lock upgrade is available if you prefer keypad access.

Q: Can I bolt down a Sturdy Safe?
A: Yes. All Sturdy Safes include pre-drilled bolt-down holes to anchor the safe to the floor and prevent tipping or removal.
