Contacta IL-AE98 Window Mounted Hearing Loop Aerial

The Contacta IL-AE98 is a window-mounted hearing loop aerial for one-to-one service points behind a glass or acrylic barrier, combining the hearing loop wire and the ADA T-coil signage into a single 8.5-inch square panel that mounts on the staff side of the window facing the customer. The aerial transmits the audio signal from a Contacta hearing loop driver as a magnetic field through the glass, and any customer with a hearing aid or cochlear implant switched to the T-coil (telecoil) position picks up the audio directly in their device, cutting out ambient noise and letting them hear the staff side clearly through the barrier.

The window-mounted design solves three problems that a counter-top or wall aerial does not. First, the aerial mounts on the glass barrier rather than the counter, freeing up counter space that would otherwise be taken by a countertop stand or a wall-hung sign. Second, when the customer side of the counter is outdoors (drive-through pharmacy, ticket booth, airport tarmac counter, outdoor bank teller), the aerial stays indoors on the staff side of the glass, out of the weather. Third, the large blue T-coil sign is visible to the customer through the window from the moment they approach the counter, so hearing-aid users know a hearing loop is available before they start the transaction.

The IL-AE98 is designed to work with Contacta's hearing loop drivers, including the STS-A31H window intercom amplifier's built-in hearing loop drive, and connects via the included 6.5-foot cable. At 8.5 inches square and only 0.10 inch thick, the panel sits flush against the glass without obstructing the customer's view of the staff or the counter. It is well suited to bank teller windows, post office counters, pharmacy consultation windows, supermarket customer service desks, information center reception, library circulation counters, airport check-in and ticket booths, embassy and government facility reception, and any other service point where a glass or acrylic barrier separates staff from customers.

If you're not sure whether the IL-AE98 window-mounted aerial is the right choice for your installation (as opposed to the IL-AE97 above-the-counter aerial or the IL-AE99 under-the-counter aerial), please call us at 800-207-2259.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is shipping really free?

Yes. Free delivery is included on every safe we sell, anywhere in the lower 48 states. The specific delivery method depends on the safe's weight: small package delivery for under 150 lbs, curbside, or garage delivery for heavier safes. See full shipping details →

How long will this take to arrive?

Shipping timelines vary by product. Check the availability status at the top of this page for the estimated ship date. Once shipped, transit time typically runs 5–10 business days, depending on your location. You'll receive tracking when the safe leaves the warehouse. Safes under 150 lbs ship via UPS or FedEx Ground, no appointment needed. Safes weighing 150 lbs or more ship via freight (LTL); the freight carrier will contact you directly to schedule a delivery appointment once the safe reaches your local terminal.

Can you deliver it inside my house and bolt it down?

We don't provide inside delivery directly, but we work with third-party installers across the country who do. Here's how it works: call us at 800-207-2259 for a recommendation in your area, and we'll provide the names and phone numbers of installers we've worked with. You contact the installer directly to arrange pricing for delivery and installation. Once you've agreed on a price, place your order with us using the installer's address as the shipping destination. The installer receives the safe, inspects it, and schedules your final delivery appointment. Some installers prefer to pick the safe up directly from the freight terminal. See inside delivery details →

Will this fit through my doorway?

Check the product's exterior dimensions (listed above) against your narrowest passage, interior doorways, stair landings, and tight turns. Most people remove the safe from the pallet before moving it indoors, so the safe's actual dimensions are what matter for doorways. Standard interior doorways (30–32" clear) accommodate most residential safes, but measure before ordering. Call us if you're uncertain. See where to locate your safe →

Can I change the combination myself?

Electronic locks: yes; it takes about 30 seconds. Instructions are included with your safe. Mechanical dial locks: no, changing a dial combination requires a licensed safe technician. Important: attempting to change a dial combination yourself (or having an unlicensed locksmith do it) voids the lock warranty. A licensed safe tech maintains the warranty. See lock operating instructions →

Note: Some mechanical pushbutton locks (like Simplex) can be changed by the user without a technician. Check your specific lock's instructions.

What if it arrives damaged?

Call us immediately — while you have 24 hours to report damage, calling right away gets the claim filed faster. Take photos of the damage and packaging before moving anything. For minor cosmetic damage, we typically send touch-up paint plus a partial refund. For significant damage, we send replacement parts or arrange a full replacement. Order Protection (optional at checkout) speeds refund payouts to 48–72 hours vs. 30–60 days through standard freight claims; replacement safes ship on the manufacturer's normal timeline regardless. See receiving your safe →

What's your return policy?

We offer a 30-day return policy on unused, in-original-condition products. The return freight for a heavy safe is substantial, so we strongly encourage you to call us before ordering if you're unsure about fit or configuration. See full return policy →

Can I place my order by phone?

Yes. Call us Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm Pacific at 800-207-2259. You have two options: we can take the full order by phone (we pause the call recording before you read your card number, so payment info is never stored), or we can build your order and email you a payable invoice link so you can enter your own payment details securely.
