The FireKing 4-1956-2 Two-Hour Four Drawer Letter Vertical Fire File Cabinet is made from solid steel panels surrounded by an underlayer of galvanized steel wire to give added protection and the Thermocell II proprietary insulation. This construction form adds durability in impact and explosion tests and superior fire protection. The steel panels are replaceable and can be easily installed if one of the panels happens to be damaged. They tested the fire resistance by placing the cabinet in a burn chamber where external temperatures exceeded 1700 degrees F. The inside temperature never rose above 350 degrees F. This is more than enough to protect important paper documents because paper will start to burn at 451 degrees F.  A bonus to the cabinet is its water resistance and impact resistance. The water resistance was designed to protect the files from a building sprinkler system. The safe was drop tested to ensure no components would break under the impact, weakening the fire resistance. It is also ETL verified for 30 minutes of media protection for external hard drives, CDs, DVDs,s or LTO DLT tapes, and you can keep your documents safe from theft with its Medeco high-security key lock.
