It holds 11 long guns behind 12-gauge steel and a 45-minute fire rating at 1400°F, on the same chassis Hollon builds into the higher-end Dominion 11, with a few small differences that keep the price lower: 1.25" chrome steel locking bolts instead of the Dominion's 1.5", a single standard textured black finish instead of the Dominion's gray and teal color options. Everything that matters for keeping your guns secure and protecting them in a house fire is the same.
The body is 12-gauge steel. Plenty of safes in this price range, and most locking cabinets, are built with 14 or 16-gauge instead, which is actually thinner (a higher gauge number means thinner steel, which is one of the more confusing parts of safe shopping when you start out). The door is held shut by twelve 1.25" solid steel active locking bolts on all four sides, and the lock mechanism sits behind a drill-resistant hard plate that protects against drill attacks on the lock itself. Behind that, an auxiliary relocker is set to fire automatically if someone tries to punch or drill the lock out, freezing the bolts in place even if the primary lock is destroyed. That 350°F threshold is the temperature where paper starts to brown and become brittle, so deeds, passports, cash, ammunition, and the finishes on your guns will come out intact even after the room around the safe is gutted.
The lock is a UL-listed Type 1 S&G electronic keypad from Sargent & Greenleaf, the same brand used on most commercial and government safes. It opens fast and lets you set and change your own code. If you'd rather have a mechanical S&G Group 2 spy-proof dial (no batteries, no electronics, built to last decades), it is available at no extra charge. Other lock options available as upgrades include multi-user, biometric, audit trail, and redundant lock.
