The Browning 1878 Series 49T is built for serious collectors who need maximum capacity, taller interior clearance, and a safe that looks as substantial as it performs. With room for up to 49 long guns and an impressive 25.37 cubic feet of interior space, the 1878 49T delivers both storage volume and structural strength in one of Browning's largest residential platforms.
Security begins with an 11-gauge (1/8") steel body paired with a 1-14" thick Duo-formed door, engineered for increased rigidity and pry resistance. The formed outer plate and reinforced inner structure create a solid barrier against forced entry.
The door is secured by five 3" x 3/4" chromed locking bolts positioned on three sides that engage with the frame during locking, along with four Pry-Stop deadbolts on the hinge side to help keep the door secure even if the hinges are attacked.
The safe comes standard with an S&G Group II mechanical dial lock, with optional upgrades to an S&G electronic lock or SecuRam biometric lock for added convenience.
The 1878 Series 49T is equipped with ThermaBlock fire insulation and is rated for 110 minutes at 1200°F. The insulation system is engineered to slow heat transfer and protect firearms, documents, and valuables during prolonged exposure to fire.
Inside, Browning's Axis Adjustable Shelving System allows you to configure the layout to match your collection.
Included components:
The fabric interior provides a clean, traditional look, while the elevated floor makes rifle removal easier and more ergonomic. An interior lighting package and built-in electrical outlet allow you to add dehumidifiers or other powered accessories.
The 1878 Series stands apart visually with its Weathered Metal Glaze finish, giving the safe a forged industrial appearance. Riveted steel accent plates frame the door, with "1878" engraved detailing that highlights Browning's heritage.
External hinges and a heavy steel round handle reinforce the safe's vault-style presence while maintaining smooth door operation.
Invest in strength, space, and heritage. Order the Browning 1878 Series 49T today and secure your collection with confidence. If you have questions, call one of our safe experts at 800-207-2259 today!

Yes. Free delivery is included on every safe we sell, anywhere in the lower 48 states. The specific delivery method depends on the safe's weight: small package delivery for under 150 lbs, curbside, or garage delivery for heavier safes. See full shipping details →
Shipping timelines vary by product. Check the availability status at the top of this page for the estimated ship date. Once shipped, transit time typically runs 5–10 business days, depending on your location. You'll receive tracking when the safe leaves the warehouse. Safes under 150 lbs ship via UPS or FedEx Ground, no appointment needed. Safes weighing 150 lbs or more ship via freight (LTL); the freight carrier will contact you directly to schedule a delivery appointment once the safe reaches your local terminal.
We don't provide inside delivery directly, but we work with third-party installers across the country who do. Here's how it works: call us at 800-207-2259 for a recommendation in your area, and we'll provide the names and phone numbers of installers we've worked with. You contact the installer directly to arrange pricing for delivery and installation. Once you've agreed on a price, place your order with us using the installer's address as the shipping destination. The installer receives the safe, inspects it, and schedules your final delivery appointment. Some installers prefer to pick the safe up directly from the freight terminal. Check the product's exterior dimensions (listed above) against your narrowest passage, interior doorways, stair landings, and tight turns. Most people remove the safe from the pallet before moving it indoors, so the safe's actual dimensions are what matter for doorways. Standard interior doorways (30–32" clear) accommodate most residential safes, but measure before ordering. Call us if you're uncertain. See where to locate your safe →
Electronic locks: yes; it takes about 30 seconds. Instructions are included with your safe. Mechanical dial locks: no, changing a dial combination requires a licensed safe technician. Important: attempting to change a dial combination yourself (or having an unlicensed locksmith do it) voids the lock warranty. A licensed safe tech maintains the warranty. See lock operating instructions →
Call us immediately — while you have 24 hours to report damage, calling right away gets the claim filed faster. Take photos of the damage and packaging before moving anything. For minor cosmetic damage, we typically send touch-up paint plus a partial refund. For significant damage, we send replacement parts or arrange a full replacement. Order Protection (optional at checkout) speeds refund payouts to 48–72 hours vs. 30–60 days through standard freight claims; replacement safes ship on the manufacturer's normal timeline regardless. See receiving your safe →
We offer a 30-day return policy on unused, in-original-condition products. The return freight for a heavy safe is substantial, so we strongly encourage you to call us before ordering if you're unsure about fit or configuration. See full return policy →
