The Champion CI38 In-Swing Vault Door is the in-swing counterpart to Champion's CO38 Out-Swing, built with the same heavy-gauge steel construction, advanced boltwork, and engineered frame reinforcement, in a configuration specifically suited for panic rooms, storm shelters, and any space where the door needs to open inward. For many buyers, the choice of in-swing comes down to one practical consideration: if debris, floodwater, or structural damage blocks the exterior of the door during an emergency, an in-swing door can still be pulled open from inside. That peace of mind makes the CI38 the preferred choice for dedicated safe rooms designed to protect people and valuables.
At the core of the door is a 4-3/4" thick double-plate steel construction, two thick A36 carbon steel panels with sandwiched fire insulation, delivering exceptional rigidity and resistance to forced entry. The 1/4" outer steel plate is backed by a full 12-gauge inner panel and a 1/4" steel plate door frame, and 21 active 1-1/2" locking bolts engage on all sides of the door with no deadbolts in the boltwork. The delta-shaped triangular frame reinforcement provides structural strength that mechanical engineers have long relied on for maximum rigidity, and external ball-bearing hinges support the door's considerable 950-pound weight through years of daily use. Three layers of 5/8" Type X fire insulation protect the contents of your vault room against fire and heat, and a quick-release interior lever ensures you can always exit from within.
The CI38 installs into a standard 83" H x 38" W rough opening in concrete, block wall, or framed construction, with a door frame footprint of 83.75" H x 42.75" W. Finish options include gloss, textured, and two-tone, with your choice of silver or black pinstriping and hardware.
As an authorized Champion dealer, we're here to help you plan your installation. Call us at 800-207-2259, Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM PST.

Specifications
Yes. Free delivery is included on every safe we sell, anywhere in the lower 48 states. The specific delivery method depends on the safe's weight: small package delivery for under 150 lbs, curbside, or garage delivery for heavier safes. See full shipping details →
Shipping timelines vary by product. Check the availability status at the top of this page for the estimated ship date. Once shipped, transit time typically runs 5–10 business days, depending on your location. You'll receive tracking when the safe leaves the warehouse. Safes under 150 lbs ship via UPS or FedEx Ground, no appointment needed. Safes weighing 150 lbs or more ship via freight (LTL); the freight carrier will contact you directly to schedule a delivery appointment once the safe reaches your local terminal.
We don't provide inside delivery directly, but we work with third-party installers across the country who do. Here's how it works: call us at 800-207-2259 for a recommendation in your area, and we'll provide the names and phone numbers of installers we've worked with. You contact the installer directly to arrange pricing for delivery and installation. Once you've agreed on a price, place your order with us using the installer's address as the shipping destination. The installer receives the safe, inspects it, and schedules your final delivery appointment. Some installers prefer to pick the safe up directly from the freight terminal. Check the product's exterior dimensions (listed above) against your narrowest passage, interior doorways, stair landings, and tight turns. Most people remove the safe from the pallet before moving it indoors, so the safe's actual dimensions are what matter for doorways. Standard interior doorways (30–32" clear) accommodate most residential safes, but measure before ordering. Call us if you're uncertain. See where to locate your safe →
Electronic locks: yes; it takes about 30 seconds. Instructions are included with your safe. Mechanical dial locks: no, changing a dial combination requires a licensed safe technician. Important: attempting to change a dial combination yourself (or having an unlicensed locksmith do it) voids the lock warranty. A licensed safe tech maintains the warranty. See lock operating instructions →
Call us immediately — while you have 24 hours to report damage, calling right away gets the claim filed faster. Take photos of the damage and packaging before moving anything. For minor cosmetic damage, we typically send touch-up paint plus a partial refund. For significant damage, we send replacement parts or arrange a full replacement. Order Protection (optional at checkout) speeds refund payouts to 48–72 hours vs. 30–60 days through standard freight claims; replacement safes ship on the manufacturer's normal timeline regardless. See receiving your safe →
We offer a 30-day return policy on unused, in-original-condition products. The return freight for a heavy safe is substantial, so we strongly encourage you to call us before ordering if you're unsure about fit or configuration. See full return policy →
