The Contacta STS-SU2 is a combined speaker and directional microphone pod for the staff side of a window intercom installation, designed as a lower-profile and surface-mountable alternative to Contacta's pyramid-base STS-SU1-3W staff unit. The pod form factor features a round 4.3-inch-diameter base with a cardioid microphone on a flexible stem extending up to 12.9 inches, giving the operator the same close-range voice pickup as the SU1 series in a lighter ABS plastic housing that can sit freestanding on the counter or be permanently surface-mounted to the operator desk.
The surface-mount option is the STS-SU2's main differentiator from the SU1 series. The round pod base can be bolted or adhered directly to the operator desk, which keeps the unit from being accidentally shifted, bumped, or walked off during shift changes, and gives a cleaner installed look at a dedicated service counter where the staff position doesn't move. If you don't want to permanently mount the unit, the pod also works as a freestanding desktop unit the operator can slide into position.
The cardioid directional microphone picks up the operator's voice from directly in front of the microphone head and rejects sound from the sides and rear, which matters at a busy teller window or ticket counter where lobby noise, HVAC fan noise, and the next operator position's conversation would otherwise bleed into the customer-side audio. The flexible stem lets the operator position the microphone head at the right height and angle for their seated or standing posture.
The 5-watt speaker runs at 4-ohm impedance with 85 dB SPL output at 1 watt at 1 meter, and a 150 Hz to 10,300 Hz frequency response tuned for clear speech reproduction at desk distance. That is the same speaker output specification the STS-A31H window intercom amplifier is tuned to drive, so the STS-SU2 pairs directly with the STS-A31H without added crossover or matching hardware. A complete install also needs a customer-side speaker and microphone and the PS-55 power supply.
The STS-SU2 does not include a mute switch on the pod itself. For installations where the operator needs on-the-fly mute control (for private side conversations or manager huddles without the customer overhearing), the STS-SU1-3W adds a three-position dual mute switch in the pyramid-base form factor. For the customer side, the STS-SU1-NM is a matching no-mute unit in the same pyramid-base chassis.
The STS-SU2 ships in a single Black RAL 9005 powder finish on an ABS plastic housing. At 4.3 inches in diameter at the base and 12.9 inches tall at the top of the microphone stem, the unit has a compact footprint on the operator desk.
If you're not sure whether the STS-SU2 is the right staff-side unit for your installation, please call us at 800-207-2259.

Yes. Free delivery is included on every safe we sell, anywhere in the lower 48 states. The specific delivery method depends on the safe's weight: small package delivery for under 150 lbs, curbside, or garage delivery for heavier safes. See full shipping details →
Shipping timelines vary by product. Check the availability status at the top of this page for the estimated ship date. Once shipped, transit time typically runs 5–10 business days, depending on your location. You'll receive tracking when the safe leaves the warehouse. Safes under 150 lbs ship via UPS or FedEx Ground, no appointment needed. Safes weighing 150 lbs or more ship via freight (LTL); the freight carrier will contact you directly to schedule a delivery appointment once the safe reaches your local terminal.
We don't provide inside delivery directly, but we work with third-party installers across the country who do. Here's how it works: call us at 800-207-2259 for a recommendation in your area, and we'll provide the names and phone numbers of installers we've worked with. You contact the installer directly to arrange pricing for delivery and installation. Once you've agreed on a price, place your order with us using the installer's address as the shipping destination. The installer receives the safe, inspects it, and schedules your final delivery appointment. Some installers prefer to pick the safe up directly from the freight terminal. Check the product's exterior dimensions (listed above) against your narrowest passage, interior doorways, stair landings, and tight turns. Most people remove the safe from the pallet before moving it indoors, so the safe's actual dimensions are what matter for doorways. Standard interior doorways (30–32" clear) accommodate most residential safes, but measure before ordering. Call us if you're uncertain. See where to locate your safe →
Electronic locks: yes; it takes about 30 seconds. Instructions are included with your safe. Mechanical dial locks: no, changing a dial combination requires a licensed safe technician. Important: attempting to change a dial combination yourself (or having an unlicensed locksmith do it) voids the lock warranty. A licensed safe tech maintains the warranty. See lock operating instructions →
Note: Some mechanical pushbutton locks (like Simplex) can be changed by the user without a technician. Check your specific lock's instructions.
Call us immediately — while you have 24 hours to report damage, calling right away gets the claim filed faster. Take photos of the damage and packaging before moving anything. For minor cosmetic damage, we typically send touch-up paint plus a partial refund. For significant damage, we send replacement parts or arrange a full replacement. Order Protection (optional at checkout) speeds refund payouts to 48–72 hours vs. 30–60 days through standard freight claims; replacement safes ship on the manufacturer's normal timeline regardless. We offer a 30-day return policy on unused, in-original-condition products. The return freight for a heavy safe is substantial, so we strongly encourage you to call us before ordering if you're unsure about fit or configuration. See full return policy →
