You’ve probably noticed that our website and our company is called Safe and Vault Store, right? Well, we’ve been getting a few questions lately about what exactly the difference between a safe and a vault is. Most of us use these words interchangeably but there are some key differences to be aware of when using these terms.
Are gun safes water proof? This question is asked by many of our customers and the truth is, there are NO gun safes to our knowledge that are "water proof". Many people are misled by other companies that a water proof gun safe exists. Most all gun safes use a "Paulsel Seal" around the door named for the inventor. This seal expands to 5 times its size when a fire is burning outside the gun safe. (heat activated) The seal will help make the gun safe SOMEWHAT water and/or smoke "resistant" but not smoke or water proof.
While, of course, owning a safe will innately protect your valuables; a lot of people often forget that the best defense is usually a multi-tiered security plan. One way to protect your things is to hide them.
